Mrs. Heidi Cook
OBMG Administrator
Heidi Cook has been involved with altruistic, nonprofit and charity organizational work for nearly her entire life.
She was raised in the Bahamas at the family run SCUBA eco-resort, Small Hope Bay. She and her family were dedicated to protecting the pristine environment around them and were instrumental in creating the Andros National Park system, an initiative aimed at protecting the land and sea of the island.
Heidi worked with her mother to establish Androsia, a grassroots textile and garment manufacturer that makes hand-made batik fabric into clothing. Androsia was successful in creating a revenue stream for the people in a community where there were no employment opportunities. Androsia remains the unofficial fabric of the Bahamas, worn by high-ranking politicians and locals alike.
Higher education took her to New York City to study Jewelry Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. This is where she met her husband-to-be (and captain-to-be), Robert Cook, and joined him on his journey with the OBMG to “Assist and Encourage” those who are underrepresented.
For almost a decade, Heidi held the position of Secretary on the Board of Directors of UIH Family Partners, now The Father Center of New Jersey. Founded in 1859, they are the oldest nonprofit in NJ dedicated to supporting children and families.
She has also served as Secretary, for almost three decades, on several philanthropic foundations focused on Health, Housing, Food, Ecology and Education.
Heidi has a lifelong interest in the diverse cultures around the world and in assisting those who are underserved. Her life has taken her to many corners of the Earth, where the oceans of the world played an ever-present part of her upbringing and remain a source of wonder and awe to her.
